Samsung to Pay Apple $290M, FCC Proposes In-Flight Cell Phone Use, Everyone’s Buying Gift Cards

Ignoring Samsung lawyer William Price’s argument that “Apple doesn’t own beautiful and sexy,” a Silicon Valley jury has ordered Samsung to pay another $290 million to Apple for copying iPhone and iPad features.

According to the National Retail Federation, gift card spending will reach an all-time high this year, with more than 80 percent of shoppers planning to purchase at least one.

The US Federal Communications Commission has proposed to allow airplane passengers to use their cell phones once the plane has reached 10,000 feet, but there is already pushback from people who think it will make air travel even noisier and more unpleasant.
