CPS Employee Accused of Stealing $420K, US Factory Orders Up, Spain Reneges on Solar Energy Contract

A Chicago Public Schools technology coordinator is alleged to have stolen nearly $420,000 by creating a list of nine fake vendors as part of a fraudulent billing scheme.

U.S. factory orders rose 1.8 percent in November, boosted by increased demand for aircrafts, machinery, and computers.

Spain’s $40 billion deficit has spurred the government to drastically cut the rates it had offered for solar energy, reneging on a 25-year guarantee and leaving many investors at risk for bankruptcy.
