Countdown Accused of Supplier Extortion, SciQuest’s Live Panel Discussion, Facebook to Buy WhatsApp

New Zealand’s Commerce Commission is formally investigating accusations against Countdown, a supermarket chain that allegedly extorted cash payments from suppliers by threatening not to stock their goods.

Next Tuesday, SciQuest will be live streaming a panel discussion, titled Procurement Transformation in Action, as part of its NextLevel conference.

Walmart’s fourth quarter profit was down 21 percent compared to the same period last year.

Facebook will buy messaging company WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock.
