McDonald’s Sets New Sustainable Sourcing Goals, Walmart and Suppliers Announce Recycling Initiative

McDonald’s chief executive Don Thompson announced this week that the company is setting new sustainability goals in sourcing a range of ingredients from coffee to palm oil to beef.

At Walmart’s inaugural Sustainable Product Expo, the company and participating suppliers announced a fund to invest $100 million in recycling infrastructure projects.

The proposal to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 failed in the Senate Wednesday morning.

According to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey, Americans are expected to spend an average of $162.94 for Mother’s Day this year, down from last year’s figure of $168.94. Total spending is expected to drop from $20.7 billion to $19 billion.
