Haiti’s Peanut Supply Chain, UPS Expands Distribution Facility, Alibaba’s 11 Main Inept

An update on Samsung’s latest sustainability report: 59 China suppliers failed to provide adequate safety equipment for workers, with a majority of Samsung’s suppliers out of compliance with overtime hours.

UPS is expanding its Memphis-based package distribution facility by about one-third, a $70-million effort that will bring its total building space to more than 430,000 square feet.

Former president Bill Clinton and Canadian philanthropist Frank Guistra launched an enterprise to help Haiti’s 12,000 small farmers and to “scale up Haiti’s peanut supply chain to meet the growing regional demand.”

It’s been a few weeks since Alibaba launched 11 Main, but there are kinks to work out, “like notify a seller when something sells,” according to an apologetic email Pierre Mitchell (our chief research officer) received after ordering a yoga towel from one of 11 Main’s merchants.
