Russia Bans Western Food Imports, B&N and Google Team Up to Take on Amazon, Marijuana Start-Ups

Russia is banning food imports from the EU, U.S., and some other Western countries in response to sanctions over Ukraine.

The recession may have ended in 2009, but Americans are still cautious spenders, with discretionary spending down 3.5 percent from the last peak.

In order to take on Amazon, Barnes & Noble will begin to offer same-day deliveries in a few metropolitan areas through Google Shopping Express.

The legalization of recreational and medical marijuana in a growing number of U.S. states has been a boon for start-up businesses.
