Factory Activity Drops, GM Reports Rise in Sales

US national factory activity in September dropped to its lowest level since June, a new report stated. Analysts had reportedly predicted a slowdown at factories due to a decline in demand from around the globe.

General Motors, however, reported a successful September, with overall volume gaining 19 percent and retail sales rising 17 percent.

Lifetime Products Inc. is receiving some flak for where it sources it products. While the company’s basketball hoops say they are made in the USA, some parts are coming from suppliers in China.

Oil and gas companies are pushing against proposed federal rules that would update trains transporting crude oil and make the railroad oil delivery system safer.
