New iPad Air Coming This Week, China Amps Up Steel Exports, Companies Announce Merger Talks and Deals

Apple is set to release its iPad Air 2 at an event Oct. 16. Some say customers can expect the addition of a “Touch ID fingerprint” and other features in the new device.

The amount of steel products coming out of China reached a new high in September. China exports of the metal hit a record 7.2 million metric tons last month.

CSX, a Florida-based rail line, is in merger talks with the Canadian Pacific Railway. If the companies were to merge, it would combine two of the largest railroad companies and be valued at more than $60 billion.

Houston-based Targa Resources Partners LP will spend $5.87 billion to buy Atlas Pipeline Partners LP and Atlas Energy LP.
