Amazon Changes Free Shipping Requirements, Sears Says it Won’t Be Closing So Many Stores

Businesses and consumers who enjoy free shipping from may soon have to pay more to receive the perk. The online retailer will increase the minimum amount customers have to spend to qualify for free shipping.

Another retailer, Sears, may not actually be closing more than 100 of its stores and laying off more than 5,400 employees. An external report issued today spoke of the downsizing, but a Sears spokesperson said the report is not accurate.

Mexico-based cement maker Cemex is boosting business spend after experiencing positive earnings. The company’s capital expenditure estimate was raised to $765 million for the year - up from $670 million - following a boost in sales in both the US and Mexico.
