Halliburton Acquires Baker Hughes, Actavis Buys Botox Maker

Halliburton Co. will buy Baker Hughes Inc. for $34.6 billion. The news of the two major oil field service companies merging comes after weeks of discussions.

Drugmaker Actavis will also be buying Botox maker Allergan for $66 billion - making it the biggest deal of the year so far.

Last week it was reported Hasbro was looking to purchase DreamWorks. However, as of today, talks of a merger have ended after news of the discussions went public and Hasbro’s stock price tumbled.

Mobile-based payments (when someone uses their smartphone to pay for goods at the checkout counter) total $50 billion currently. But 2019, though, that amount is expected to reach $142 billion in volume.
