Repsol S.A. Considers Talisman Takeover, PetSmart is Bought by BC Partners

Spanish oil and gas company Repsol S.A. is in talks with Talisman Energy Inc. to takeover the Canadian energy firm. Repsol said it’s board is meeting today to discuss the possible deal.

BC Partners, a private equity firm, will buy the United State’s largest pet store chain PetSmart Inc. for $8.3 billion. It is the “biggest leveraged deal” of 2014 for an American company.

BT Group Plc will hold exclusive talks to acquire EE - the British wireless unit of Deutsche Telekom AG and Orange SA. The possible $19.6 billion deal is expected to spur more mergers in the UK telecommunications market.

Manufacturing output in the US climbed in November to a level not seen since before the recession. Factory production increased 1.1% last month (compared to the 0.4% in October), helped by a jump in auto production.
