US Consumer Spending Climbs in November, Keurig Recalls Millions of Coffee Machines

Consumer spending increased 0.6% in November - the fastest pace in 3 months and double what was seen in October, according to a new report by the Commerce Department. Income rose 0.4% last month as well.

For those thinking to give the Keurig coffee machine as a gift this Christmas, think again. Keurig Green Mountain is recalling more than 7 million of its Mini Plus Brewing Systems due to burn hazards. About 90 consumers have reported burn-related injuries from the machines spraying them with extremely hot coffee.

The proposed merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable is being delayed again. The Federal Communications Commission reported Time Warner has withheld more than 7,000 necessary documents.

Walgreen Co.’s prescription medication sales hit a record in its first quarter, which ended in November. The drugstore chain sold 222 million prescriptions during the three-month period, which helped boost company profits.
