Small Biz Index Jumps, Gartner Says 2015 IT Spending Will Be Lackluster

The National Federation of Independent Business Small Business Optimism Index reached 100.4 in December - the highest reading since October 2006, and a jump of 2.3% from November. Small business owners expect stronger sales this year and overall feel better about the economy.

Gartner predicts worldwide IT spending will increase 2.4% during 2015 to total $3.8 trillion. While this is a rise of 2.4% from 2014, Gartner says it is lower than earlier projections of 3.9%.

Overall US business travel spending is expected to reach $310.2 billion this year, a 6.2% increase from 2014, according to a new report from the Global Business Travel Association.

Two Apple iPhone suppliers had record-breaking revenues in December. For instance, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported revenues of $2.17 billion last month, a 40% rise from December 2013.
