Staples Buys Office Depot for $6.3 Billion, Largest Member-Owned Healthcare Supply Chain Formed

Staples has made the final decision to buy Office Depot. The $6.3 billion buyout comes after months of discussion of the possible merger and unites the 2 biggest brands of office supplies.

Another merger has created the largest member-owned healthcare supply chain firm in the US. VHA Inc., a texas-based nonprofit hospital network, and Chicago-based alliance of academic medical centers UHC have joined forces to serve more than 5,000 healthcare systems members and affiliates.

Six Petrobras executives, including the CEO, have left the Brazilian state-owned oil company. The resignations come after a “tumultuous” period for the company.

US businesses added 213,000 new jobs in January – lower than expected, but still considered a decent increase.
