Obama’s Trade Agenda Met with Bipartisan Opposition, Businesses Say Manufacturing Goods in the US is Tough

Unlikely but true: Some Democrats and Tea Party Republicans agree on an issue – fighting President Obama’s “fast-track” trade agenda. Representatives from both sides want to stop Obama from having trade promotion authority.

Business are finding it difficult to bring manufacturing back to the US. China has a variety of contract manufacturers able to make products on a large scale – something businesses say the US is lacking.

North American businesses have been increasing the amount they spend on advertising, according to ad company Omnicom Group Inc. Revenue for the No. 1 ad company in the US reported increased revenues in Q4.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. Executive Chairman Jack Ma said he will work closer with Chinese authorities to stop the sale of counterfeit goods online.
