Afternoon Coffee: Suppliers Worry About Struggling Sears Business, UK Car Industry Sees Boost

Sears’ supply chain is feeling the negative effects of the retailer’s current financial situation. Suppliers are asking for better payment terms in return for working with the “troubled retailer.”

The UK car industry and its suppliers are experiencing a rise in demand, according to a new report. Now, about one-third of car spare parts used in the UK are made by domestic manufacturers, and since 2009, British car manufacturing has grown by 50%.

Amazon is now offering one-hour delivery services in Baltimore and Miami to Prime members for free or for $7.99 to non-Prime subscribers. Up until now, one-hour delivery was only available in New York City.

The Philadelphia Federal Reserve business activity index fell in March to 5.0 - the lowest level since February 2014. The demand for manufacturing goods also hit a low of 3.9.
