Afternoon Coffee: Major M&A Activity Today For Basware, Shell and Transport and Logistic Sector

E-invoicing and P2P provider Basware has acquired UK public sector e-procurement company Procserve. Baseware said the deal strengthens its position in the public sector, “combining Procserve’s UK government experience with Basware’s established global expertise in purchase-to-pay and e-invoicing.”

Merger and acquisition activity in the transport and logistic sector this year is likely to beat 2014 activity, a new report from KPMG said. Already in 2015, more than $6.6 billion has been spent on M&A activity in the sector, and a total of more than $43 billion is expected by the end of the year.

Royal Dutch Shell will buy BG Group PLC for $70 billion. It marks the first major acquisition among oil companies since oil prices began their large decent.

A new report by Frost & Sullivan shows by focusing more on their supply chains, healthcare companies can gain a competitive advantage. Seventy-eight percent of survey participants said having an effective supply chain was extremely important to compete in the industry throughout the next 10 years.
