Afternoon Coffee: Imports Increase For California Ports, Airbus Opens First US Factory

Imports coming into the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach increased in August compared to the same month last year. At Los Angeles, imports were up 6.3% from August 2014 and in Long Beach, 19.1% more imports came into the port.

Airbus opened its first US factory today in Mobile, Alabama. The factory sits on 116 acres and is able to produce up to 8 A320 family jetliners a month.

Apple expects to receive more than 10 million pre-orders for the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The pre-orders began this past weekend and the phones will be available in stores for purchase on Sept. 25

Perhaps not surprisingly, China’s factory output in August missed forecasts, rising 6.1%. A 6.4% rise was expected.
