Afternoon Coffee: Wendy’s Will Switch to Cage-Free Eggs, US Exports Drop in November

Wendy’s is the latest fast food company to announce a move to cage-free eggs. Wendy’s said it would use 100% cage-free eggs at is U.S. and Canadian locations by 2020.

U.S. exports fell in November 0.9% to $182.2 billion, reaching their lowest level since the beginning of 2012.

California’s exports, specifically, were down 13.6% in November compared to November 2014. Exports reached $12.86 for the month, the lowest since 2009.

U.S. jobless claims reached their lowest level since 1973, with 277,000 Americans filing for unemployment during the last week of 2015. The number of jobless claims between Dec. 27 and Jan. 2 was also down 10,000 from the week before.

    Eye opening stats on the exports especially California’s disappointing drop in export figures. This is another reason why we need a bipartisan support for Import-Export Bank re-authorization. There is also a serious need for improved processes at the bank that is so vital for US exports and job market.
