Afternoon Coffee: Coca-Cola’s Supply Chain Goes Mobile, Old St Labs Partners With Vodafone

Coca-Cola Co.’s latest tool in improving supply chain efficiency is mobile commerce, the Wall Street Journal reports. The beverage company is encouraging small retailers to use a mobile app in sending order requests to local distributors, who bid on the deal – and then gig workers are enlisted to help with delivery. As Alan Boehme, Coca-Cola’s chief innovation officer for global IT, put it, “In the white spaces in the ecosystem between partners, bottling facilities and consumers, there’s an opportunity for disruption.”

Vodafone + Old St Labs

Supplier collaboration platform Old St Labs is partnering with global telecommunications company Vodafone to improve collaboration and innovation in Vodafone’s supply chain. The latter is using Vizibl, a supplier collaboration tool developed by Old St Labs, in driving supplier innovation with strategic and new suppliers.


Reuters reports that the European Union has fined six major car part suppliers, including Germany’s Mahle Behr and Japan’s Denso, a total of 155 million euros ($163.6 million) for operating cartels in their markets.
