In a recent post, Spend Matters’ Andrew Karpie explored the role of digital platforms in sourcing and engaging highly skilled (and often scarce) business talent. In his article on the topic, Karpie explained that many procurement and HR professionals have not yet come into contact with such technologies in the workplace, despite their growing ubiquity in the global economy.

As trends enabling platforms — such as networking, software, digitalization, automation, AI and big data — continue to change the way practitioners source and manage labor, it will become more critical than ever for contingent workforce and services procurement (CW/S) to seriously consider the increasing role of platforms and what they can accomplish with respect to talent sourcing, engagement, collaboration and productivity. Failing to do so could mean losing out to the competition in the war for talent.

To help procurement organizations shape their battle strategy, Spend Matters teamed up with Catalant to provide analysis and real-world cases to show how some organizations are already taking advantage of platform models. The white paper, designed to help practitioners get their arms around this subject, covers the following:

  • The current and very real problem faced by organizations to find and engage the highly skilled, specialized professional talent they critically require
  • The changes in the ways workers — especially highly skilled, specialized talent — want to work outside of traditional employment arrangements
  • Why traditional talent intermediaries, such as large established consulting firms, no longer provide an optimal solution for many organizations today
  • How platform intermediaries have begun to support new talent gap solutions that many organizations are finding superior in terms of lower cost, higher velocity, better outcomes and visibility
  • An example of such a platform intermediary, Catalant, which matches organizations and highly experienced and credentialed independent business consultants (including several real-world use cases)
