Afternoon Coffee: iPhone 8 to be Revealed in Two Weeks, Nissan Doubles Down on Britain Ahead of Brexit

An Apple event on Sept. 12 will unveil the latest iPhone model, as well as an updated Apple TV, CNBC reports. According to rumors, the iPhone 8 will feature a screen that covers nearly the entire front of the device, a design that has pushed Apple’s manufacturers to step up to competition from other phone makers that offer the same.

Nissan Plans for Brexit

Even as Brexit casts a cloud of uncertainty over the U.K., Nissan is looking to boost production in the island nation by 20%, according to Nikkei Asian Review. The automaker will also source more parts from within the U.K., in an effort to offset higher costs from rewritten trade agreements.

Grasberg Mine

Freeport-McMoRan reached a tentative agreement with the Indonesian government Tuesday to give a majority stake in its Grasberg mine back to the country, the New York Times reports. The mine, one of the “world’s most valuable chunks of land,” contains a vast store of copper and gold.

Auto Exports 

And finally, a trade update: Mexico’s exports of vehicles and auto parts rose 13.2% in July, the Wall Street Journal reports, with total export rising 8% from July 2016 to $32.16 billion.
