Afternoon Coffee: Tesla Hypes Launch of Semi Truck, Hospitals Grapple with Saline Bag Shortage

Tesla will unveil Thursday its long-awaited competitor for the commercial trucking industry, Supply Chain 24/7 reports. Founder Elon Musk tweeted that the semi truck would “blow your mind clear out of your skull and clear into an alternate dimension,” although actual details about the electric truck have been scant.

Supplies of saline bags are running dangerously low, as multiple suppliers of the hospital fixture have encountered production issues, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Hurricane Maria knocked out power at factories that produced the bags for one supplier, while the FDA is investigating another after reports of leaky and moldy products.

Business Talent Group has announced a relationship with Allstate Business Insurance to provide a portal through which independent consultants can acquire insurance solutions tailored to their unique needs, according to a press release. Protections and services provided through the program include coverage for cyber security breaches, onsite liabilities and business property damage.

And finally, an Amazon update: The Wall Street Journal has used Amazon’s RFP for its second headquarters to rank major cities and their likelihood of scoring the major site. Wherever Amazon ends up, procurement groups should worry about the potential talent and recruiting effects of HQ2.
