Afternoon Coffee: Didi Chuxing Raises $4 Billion in New Funding, MBO Partners and PeopleTicker Partner for Labor Rates and Benchmarking

Didi Chuxing, Uber’s Chinese rival, completed a funding round this week totaling $4 billion, the New York Times reports. The latest investment increases Didi’s valuation to $56 billion, and the company plans to use the money to fuel overseas expansion.

MBO Partners with PeopleTicker

MBO Partners announced Tuesday it has formed a partnership with PeopleTicker to provide third-party labor rate information to its enterprise clients, according to a press release. PeopleTicker’s benchmarking solution will provide instant access to rates as well as detailed analytics to drive overall savings and workforce planning.

Copper Rally

The copper rally is still going strong into the end of the calendar year, with the red metal poised to post its best year since 2010, the Wall Street Journal reports. Steady demand for copper has supported prices and bolstered investors’ confidence that the current economic expansion should continue.

Bitcoin Plunges

And finally, a bitcoin update: The cryptocurrency slid below $16,000 Thursday, Bloomberg reports, a 16% decline after a meteoric rise earlier this month.
