Tesla to hike prices in China; Navy chooses Amazon Web Services; U.S. tariff on German cars?

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed a trade deal with the European Union and said he hoped Washington would not have to consider imposing tariffs on German cars, reports Reuters. The discussion comes amidst the G7 Summit in Biarritz, France, where global leaders are expected to discuss climate, Iran, and, of course, trade.

Tesla will hike prices in China

Reuters also reports that U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc. will raise prices in China on Aug. 30, and may even hike prices again in December, should Chinese tariffs on U.S.-made cars take effect. Tesla has been affected by the U.S.-China trade war.

U.S. Navy moves logistics to Amazon cloud

The Navy has moved all its data and analytics functions onto the cloud as the first step in its $100 million plan, according to Breaking Defense. The move of 72,000 users spread across six Navy commands to an Amazon Web Services cloud system is part of a three-year effort, according to Navy leaders.
