Release note, VMS SolutionMap Fall 2021: Vendor Management Systems (VMS with SOW persona)

11/02/2021 By

This Spend Matters SolutionMap Insider release note provides insight into the SolutionMap Fall 2021 release for the category of Vendor Management Systems (VMS), which has an SOW filter, or persona, to highlight solutions that focus on statements of work. This note reviews the process that we follow and highlights what has changed since the last SolutionMap release.

This release contains the second major update since SolutionMap’s 2017 launch, which includes new “market personas,” updated technology categories and a more focused RFI.

The latest RFI contains new questions that account for recent innovations and updates to other questions that better reflect which capabilities are "industry standards" versus "best-in-class.”

The SolutionMap categories for Temp Staffing and Contract Services/SOW are now VMS (SOW). VMS solutions must include the capabilities/functionality to manage temp staffing coupled with at least minimal functionality to address contract services/SOW (i.e., the ability to source, manage, engage contract services providers and manage services delivered.)

In addition, the category Direct Sourcing of Workforce/Services (DSW/S) was retired. While Spend Matters sees direct sourcing as an important emerging channel and technology in the contingent workforce space, it does not currently warrant a separate SolutionMap.

The new VMS (SOW) category has 130 active customer survey references.

One new vendor joined SolutionMap. SAP Fieldglass is now participating in the VMS category.

Elevated Resources is now known as ELEVATED.
