Spare your supply chain: The risks and rewards of carbon management

As consumer demand has spurred increased production, companies have expanded their supply chains and added new vendors. Each step in this process — from manufacturing to transportation — generates carbon emissions. This, in turn, contributes to global warming, which has exacerbated the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, including hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and more. While natural disasters are not solely caused by carbon emissions, the evidence is clear: the more carbon in the atmosphere, the more extreme these events become, which in turn exposes supply chains to increased risks. In an effort to curb climate change, regulatory compliance is becoming commonplace, inducing heavy repercussions in cases of non-compliance.
