Release note, SolutionMap Spring 2021: E-Procurement, Invoice-to-Pay and Procure-to-Pay

This Spend Matters SolutionMap Insider release note provides insight into the SolutionMap Spring 2021 release for three categories: E-Procurement, Invoice-to-Pay (I2P) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P). The note reviews the process that we follow and highlights what has changed since the last SolutionMap release.

The Spring 2021 SolutionMap resulted from a “condensed” update cycle containing only customer score updates, spurred by new or expiring references. Analyst scores were carried forward from the previous Fall 2020 rankings. This condensed cycle allowed time for our analysts to simplify and streamline a new RFI for the next cycle, Fall 2021 SolutionMap. The addition of new vendors and existing vendors’ expansion into new categories were also pushed to Fall 2021 to coincide with the rollout of the revamped RFI.

“Determine (Corcentric)” is now displayed as Corcentric Platform.

The E-Procurement, I2P and P2P customer reference set added 100 new individual customer references in Spring 2021. References from Q1 and Q2 2018 expired after 2½ years of use.

What’s new in the Fall 2020 E-Procurement, Invoice-to-Pay and Procure-to-Pay SolutionMap?

Spend Matters updated the bubble size methodology of the SolutionMap rankings. The bubble size previously represented the number of customers served by a vendor. This method did not adequately convey a vendor's experience and resources to handle complex global deployments. As such, the new bubble size considers:

  • market scale based on the number of customers across the globe
  • number of full-time employees focused on the relevant solution(s)
  • revenue per customer in the relevant solution(s)

These factors were determined by the analyst team, and vendors were given the opportunity to validate the inputs.

Five new providers joined SolutionMap. AvidXchange, Corcentric Payables Automation (COR360) and Infor are now participating in the Invoice-to-Pay category. Uppler and VORTAL are now participating in the E-Procurement category.

Now merged, Medius (Wax Digital) includes E-Procurement, I2P and P2P.

Customer references now have a lifespan of two-and-a-half years. The E-Procurement, I2P and P2P customer reference set added 105 new individual customer references in Fall 2020.

Oracle Procurement Cloud: What Makes It Great (Procure-to-Pay SolutionMap Analysis)

Enterprises have numerous choices for procure-to-pay solutions today. But only one vendor offers a fully unified, single ecosystem of business applications that span not only e-procurement and invoice-to-pay processes but also financials, supply chain collaboration and HR.

And that vendor is Oracle.

As it has patiently migrated all of its solutions to the cloud, Oracle has maintained a “slow and steady” approach to its long-term technology strategy. That doesn’t mean its cloud applications have developed at the same pace, though. Perhaps surprising to some, Oracle’s P2P solution has in recent years leapfrogged other providers in the procurement technology market. Today it ranks among the top solutions for P2P, as our comparative SolutionMap benchmarks illustrate. And continued investments in areas like user experience, early payments support and artificial intelligence (AI) stand to only strengthen the mega vendor’s downstream capabilities.

But where does Oracle stand out most and help “set the bar” in P2P, and why should this matter for procurement and finance organizations? Let’s delve into the SolutionMap benchmark to find out where Oracle is great.

“What Makes It Great” is a recurring column that shares insights from each quarterly SolutionMap report for SolutionMap Insider subscribers. Based on both our rigorous evaluation process and customer reference reviews, each brief offers quick facts on the provider, describes where it excels, provides hard data on where it beats the SolutionMap benchmark and concludes with a checklist for ideal customer scenarios in which procurement, finance and supply chain organizations should consider it.

Q4 2019 Procure-to-Pay (P2P): Provider Scoring Summary

The Spend Matters SolutionMap Procure-to-Pay (P2P): Provider Scoring Summary is only available to SolutionMap Members. This SolutionMap analyzes a select group of procure-to-pay solution providers. Q4 2019 SolutionMap Release Notes: E-Procurement, Invoice-to-Pay and Procure-to-Pay

This Spend Matters SolutionMap Insider Release Note provides insight into the Q4 2019 SolutionMap release for E-Procurement, Invoice-to-Pay (I2P) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P), reviewing the process that we follow and highlighting what has changed since the last release.

The E-Procurement, I2P and P2P customer reference set added 20 new individual customer references in Q4. There were no new providers added for Q4, although Jaggaer One (formerly Jaggaer Indirect) has successfully been scored against the new Q2 2019 RFI requirements for the first time.

*Get a first look at the Q4 SolutionMap comparative quadrant graphics here.

As Jaggaer has unified three of its product lines — Jaggaer Indirect, Jaggaer Direct and Jaggaer Advantage — into Jaggaer One, which allows customers and prospects to select the best modules from each offering to fit an organization’s unique needs, Spend Matters has broken out the naming convention for the Jaggaer offerings more specifically for Q4 2019 SolutionMap in the persona ranking graphics. This means that in the E-Procurement and Invoice-to-Pay category this quarter, the solution/product formerly known as Jaggaer Indirect is now listed as: Jaggaer eProcurement and Jaggaer Invoice-to-Pay.

Due to Jaggaer’s participation in both E-Procurement and Invoice-to-Pay, the provider also appears in the Procure-to-Pay Suite view, as Jaggaer Procure-to-Pay.

The Q4 2019 SolutionMap marks the first time Jaggaer solutions have been evaluated against Q2 2019 RFI requirements by the Spend Matters analyst team, and are able to again appear in this quarter’s editions of the Provider Scoring Summaries.

This SolutionMap Insider research note provides insight into these and additional changes in the Q4 2019 SolutionMap release.
