100 Contracts Awarded in 40 Hours – Lessons in Innovation from the US Air Force

Public Spend Forum recently reported on the following piece of news we thought worthy of sharing: Working through the Small Business Innovation Research Programme, contracting officials and innovators from across the US Air Force have significantly accelerated the acquisition process by awarding more than 100 contracts in 40 hours to small businesses. “Evaluations and awards have typically taken up to six months to complete so we did a number of things to shorten the schedule. We did evaluations in under a one week, and the contracts in a second week such that within two weeks of the call for proposals closing, we had the companies on contract,” said Ryan Helbach, chief intrapreneur at the Air Force Research Laboratory. Read how they accomplished this and the drivers behind such an achievement in the full story on Air Force Materiel Command.

How to Use GovShop to Discover Cooperative Contracts and Suppliers for Audio/Visual Equipment

We wrote last week about how Public Spend Forum’s supplier/buyer interactive platform GovShop is increasing in use across the US public sector, by both suppliers wanting to be found and by public sector wanting to buy. And we’ll be hearing more about this platform becoming more relevant in the UK and Europe in the near future, so we’d like to give you a heads up on a webinar on December 18 which talks listeners through how to use it for audio/visual requirements. GovShop can be used to find suppliers and opportunities in all areas, but as almost all organisations have audio/visual requirements, from equipment to installation services to event rentals, it’s a good one to learn from: it explains how to use GovShop to discover cooperative agreements and suppliers for (in this case) audio/visual equipment. To learn more, join Ash Bedi, Managing Director, Strategy & Research, who is a member of the Public Spend Forum management team, with 25 years’ experience in consulting and industry, especially in the areas of strategic planning and procurement.
