CIPS Congress Election – Vote Today!

I don’t know if it is just the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Southern Region holding an election for places on Congress, but votes close tomorrow so do use your democratic mandate if you are a CIPS member.

Congress is not the ultimate seat of power in the Institute; that is now the Global Board of Trustees. But it is still an important body that plays a role in the governance process and indeed provides a regular flow of people onto the Board.

I received an email on July 10th which gave me the link to the on-line voting, but I’ve had no reminder since then. I think a follow-up might have been a good idea if CIPS wants people to vote!

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised at our list of candidates, which was and is extremely strong – around 10 folk going for the two places. I know 4 or 5 well, all excellent people, and it was difficult to rank them and indeed the others I don’t know who also look impressive.

We’d not going to presume to make any suggestions as to which two would be the most deserving candidates, and who you might like to pick, but if you are eligible to vote, then do make use of that privilege. And do it NOW – tomorrow is the last day of voting.

We also realised something very shocking about CIPS, which we’re going to save till later this week … (not necessarily ”bad” shocking, we’ll say, just to be clear)!
