CIPS dinner tonight – a nation battens down the hatches as procurement profession celebrates

Tonight it is the CIPS Dinner, the second most glittering night in the UK procurement professionals' calendars (the SM Awards has somewhat stolen the thunder of the Annual Dinner, and indeed the Procurement Leaders awards is a rapidly up and coming evening as well).

At London's Hilton Hotel, we will hear from David Smith, CIPS President, which should be a treat as he's one of the best speakers we've had as President for a long time - as well as a top-class CPO of course!  Then Matthew Parris of the Times is the after-dinner speaker - that could go either way, he's a great writer but he can, in his own words, be a bit grumpy as a speaker. Get some wine down him, David...

Talking of wine, I am (for the first time) a guest of Proxima (formally known as the buyingTeam).  Now they have a wine expert amongst their senior numbers, so I'm hopeful that we might get something better than the usual Chateau Hilton Cotes des Margins Massif de Profit tonight..

So if you'd like to say "hi" I'll be on their table, and it's always a good chance to meet a lot of friends, old and new. I may Tweet from the event - if anything exciting happens - and we'll bring you a review of the evening tomorrow, subject to hangover...
