CIPS SM awards (in association with BravoSolution) – decision day approaches

The final judging day for the CIPS SM Awards is next week, so tension mounts amongst the short listed firms and individuals.

A couple of observations - at least two of the short list for 'Most Improved Purchasing Operation – start up' to my knowledge have had procurement functions for at least 5 years - so interesting how 'start up ' is defined?

But on a purely positive note, the short list for "Professional of the Year" is the strongest there has been in the 10 years or so of this event. All three are very impressive and - really important I think for this award - are more than just stroing and capable professional procurement people.  They are serious and credible senior business people.  I really wouldn't like to put money on who wil come out on top (although I have a hunch...)  but congratulations to:

Philip Orumwense from Department for Work and Pensions

Ian Bolger from Thames Water

Martin Sykes from Value Wales – Welsh Assembly Government
