Ian Watmore returns to government – less hassle than the FA?

As we suspected (but then were told was not the case,) Ian Watmore has been appointed to head up the Efficiency and Reform Group in the Cabinet Office with OGC amongst his empire.

A brilliant Cambridge Maths student in the late seventies  (like me except for the 'brilliant' bit) who spent much of his time watching punk bands at the Corn Exchange (exactly like me) he headed up Accenture in the UK then was the first government CIO, Permanent Secretary for the short-lived DIUS, then was an even more short lived FA CEO.  I consider getting out of that mad house quickly to be a positive on his cv.

Very smart, good with people (I hear), understands government and private sector; could be good news.
