Introducing Free YouTube Masterclasses on Category Management and Strategic Sourcing

The International Institute for Advanced Purchasing & Supply (IIAPS) “is dedicated to the raising of international standards in purchasing and supply management so that real business value - improvements in the quality, cost and delivery performance of supply - is delivered to organisations” – the website states.

Full Professional Membership (MIIAPS) of the Institute involves completing the Institute's International Green, Red and Black Belts in Advanced Purchasing & Supply®. These are the world's first advanced international professional qualifications for procurement/purchasing and supply/supply chain management professionals to create “highly trained and qualified professional managers, who are capable of undertaking the most rigorous and robust approaches to the development and delivery of sourcing strategies.” You can check out the website here.

As well as training courses, accreditation and corporate counsel, the organisation produces research and videos to help promote best-practice thinking. The organisation finds that many CEOs for example aren’t aware of what World-Class Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) really means and how to implement it in their organisation. Others are aware but don’t truly understand the latest thinking or practice on Competence Development and Value Delivery.

As it says: “Many current practitioners, while fully qualified to basic professional standards, do not fully grasp the more advanced tools and techniques that have been developed to assist managers with the development of category sourcing strategies.”

To this end it has just launched the first of 24 free video modules explaining the Principles of Category Management and Strategic Sourcing. These Masterclass help to aid competence and development in the profession and are free to view on YouTube.

The first module can be seen here Principles of Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Masterclass  - they are quick (15-minute) recordings which are well worth a listen to.

The idea is to publish the next modules at fortnightly intervals. So do keep an eye out for the next ones. They will cover: The role of procurement and supply chain management (6 modules); World-class and best-in-class in category management and strategic sourcing (2 modules); The activities and tasks in a world-class category management strategic sourcing process (1 module) and The principles of buyer and supplier exchange (14 modules).
