We'll be writing our first monthly music review next weekend, and it's already been a surprisingly interesting start to the year.
So if you would like to prepare yourself, ready to say, "that's a load of rubbish" to whatever we come up with as our considered view, then have a listen this week to the following four albums:
The King is Dead by the Decemberists
The Big Roar by the Joy Formidable
Ritual by White Lies
All available to listen to on Spotify; and
Anna Calvi by Anna Calvi - not on Spotify but get a free stream here from the Guardian.
How many out of ten do you think they'll each be scoring? Stay tuned next weekend to find out!
Peter,
You’re too cool matey. I think you listen to more new music than Peely used to!
I’m still catching up with Robert Wyatt and Blodwyn Pig, or some such….
Hi Peter
Haven’t done my homework yet….. but have just seen that Sarah Gillespie is getting good reviews for her second album. Not heard it yet, but saw her play live in a tiny village hall in Ireby Cumbria with Gilad Altmoz last summer – absolutely amazing Saturday tea time gig. Watch this space!
