Quick Wins for the New Procurement Leader – Get the Slides Here

Last week saw the final BravoSolution Real World Sourcing workshop for 2015. I presented the session, titled “Quick Wins for the New Procurement Leader”. Thanks to everyone who came – it was good to see some old friends, but also quite a number of people for whom this was their first RWS event. We hope everyone enjoyed it and found it useful.

It is an interesting topic, and there are a few dilemmas for any “new leader”. Do you take some time to check things through, assess the lie of the land, and do some careful thinking, before you make any bold moves? Or do you move quickly to make your mark and establish your presence? Of course, getting to grips quickly with long-term strategy and challenges is important too, but in our opinion there’s nothing like getting some early successes under your belt when you go into a new role.

If you can “hit the ground running” you can build the best possible foundation for the new position. A positive start, taking actions and making decisions in the early days are vital, and you may come to regret missing these opportunities later on in your role. We discussed how certain actions are a lot harder to take or will face more opposition if you leave them for a year or two.

Anyway, if you missed the session, you can download the slides from it here, on the BravoSolution website (free on registration). And don’t forget – if you have attended any of the sessions this year, you can do the “quiz” relating to last week's session and help your chances of winning the BravoSolution RWS scholarship, worth £2,500 towards any training and development activity of your choice.

Entries close soon – the ten highest scorers get invited to the scholarship dinner in London on December 17th, which is an excellent evening, and the overall winner will be announced then, and presented with a huge cheque that they have to carry home on the Tube ... !

And big news - yes, Real World Sourcing will be back in 2016. Look out for more on that shortly.
