SAP Ariba Live In Amsterdam – EarlyBird Discounts For Procurement Mega-Event

Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that we have a new banner at the top-right of our pages. We’re promoting the SAP Ariba Live event at the RAI Amsterdam on April 23-25th, and you can find out more details here.

We covered the equivalent event last year in Prague and you can read reports on it here, here and here if you want to get a flavour of the type of event and sessions we saw then. SAP Ariba will need no introduction to most readers, and that last event was as impressive in size, scope and professionalism as you might expect from an industry leader.

No doubt this year will be similar, and you can expect a mix of SAP Ariba-led sessions highlighting new product developments, customer stories, and speakers with a wider procurement and supply chain perspective. Last year the balance of major keynotes, smaller break-out and workshop type sessions was good, and the social side of it was also pitched just right. The main evening event was good fun without me ever thinking “gosh, this is a waste of money” – a feeling I have sometimes had at big company events!

While the agenda is only in outline form currently,  at a strategic level there will no doubt be much talk of transformation and digitisation.  Then at the next level of detail, we would be amazed if there wasn’t a focus on:

  • what artificial intelligence can really do for procurement (remember the tie up between SAP Ariba and IBM’s Watson capability)
  • both services and direct materials capability
  • risk management (which seems to be a huge topic for many right now)
  • how the huge SAP Ariba network can be mobilised to bring procurement users more collaboration benefits

They are just our educated guesses, we would stress, but look out too for “Procurement with a Purpose” – we will have more on that to come.

My suspicion is that key customers might get a free ticket, but even if you have to pay, you should consider this if you are a client or potential client of SAP Ariba, or a serious investor in procurement tech generally, or indeed you are simply interested in where procurement is going and how technology will support that journey. (Actually if you are a significant Ariba user, you really should go in order to make sure you are maximising your investment in the product).

Spend Matters will be reporting on the event and we’ll bring you more on the agenda as it emerges. Early bird pricing is available now, but only till March 4th,  and the fee is very reasonable for three days of high-quality event.
