Spend Matters 50 to Know — Hubwoo

Following the launch of the Spend Matters 50 to Know and 50 to Watch, our US site and our colleagues there have started running through all the providers to give the reasoning behind their inclusion. These are brilliant short summaries of each company’s offerings, and will be of great value for many readers. We are adding our comments about the firms; for some we may have little to add, but for others we can offer further value and insight. We will then give you the link to the US post for you to read in full if you wish.

We feel we should have something to say about Hubwoo this side of the Atlantic because they are of course a French firm by origin and still have a stock market listing in that country, even if the US is probably their biggest market now. They strike me as a firm that has to some extent hidden their light under the proverbial bushel. Most of my conversations with them over the last three years have tended to include the phrase "oh, I didn't know you did that as well"!

Their fortunes seemed to be so wrapped up with SAP at one point, that many predicted doom for Hubwoo when SAP acquired Ariba, who could duplicate some of the Hubwoo SAP-synergistic functionality. But they've come back well, with new partnerships, and its still well worth getting to understand what they can do, particularly if you're looking to get more out of an ERP platform.

Here’s an excerpt from the US review:

"To say Hubwoo is just a transactional connectivity alternative to that larger network that falls under SAP’s auspices would not be doing it justice. Hubwoo in fact brings a set of capabilities, in addition to e-invoicing workflow and connectivity, that enable organizations to “surround” ERP procurement deployments and preserve their investment, by adding capabilities in such areas as catalog management, e-invoicing, and workflow on top of the previous deployment."

"Granted, Hubwoo is not alone in the supplier network and SAP SRM surround/enhancement market – it’s a crowded space. But amongst dozens of supplier network and e-invoicing providers in the market, Hubwoo still has among the most experience integrating and working with SAP environments."
