Spend Matters 50 to Watch – State of Flux

Following the launch of Spend Matters  50 to Know and 50 to Watch, our US site and our colleagues there have started running through all the providers to give the reasoning behind their inclusion. These are brilliant short summaries of each company’s offerings, and will be of great value for many readers.

Here, we add our comments on the firm, and give you the link to the US post to read in full if you wish. In some cases we will have little to add but in others we will be able to add further value and insight.

And of course, we know this London-based firm well, and indeed commented before our US colleagues on both the consulting side of the business and its more recently launched software offering. The consulting arm is particularly well known for its annual SRM (supplier relationship management) survey, and that is an area of deep expertise for the team. The software division, headed up by the impressive Lance Younger, is taking it into new waters.

And here’s an excerpt from our SM US piece:

State of Flux is a consultancy and executive staffing/managed services firm that specializes in supplier management. Perhaps best known to non-clients for their annual SRM Survey, State of Flux’s footprint and reach is global (although they’re based in the UK).

Implementing State of Flux Technology takes approximately eight to ten weeks – which by our experience is quite quick for a comprehensive supplier management tool of this scope.  More broadly, outside of technology, we’re impressed with the State of Flux grounding and global expertise in supplier management … We also think the hybrid model of traditional consultancy services combined with staffing executives in supplier management and related roles inside companies, while being able to leverage internal State of Flux IP, is a smart model in today’s professional services climate.
